Costa Rica

We traveled to Costa Rica with two things in mind, Volcanoes (for Angie) and Beaches (for Kendra), lucky for us we found the best of both worlds.  Our first night was spent in San Jose, a city we would not recommend visiting.  Then we drove out to Arenal volcano and stayed at the Volcano Observatory for a few nights.  The entire time the volcano was rumbling, one night we saw lava fountaining up to 200 feet at least with some small pyroclastics.  We enjoyed the hot tub, playing ping pong and plenty of Imperial.

The middle of our trip was spent on the beach at Playa Flamingo.  Lots of sun!  We went kayaking to a small island, sun tanned, hung out at the pool's bar, and drove to some small towns for authentic meals.

From Playa Flamingo we drove out to Puntarenas and took a small charter boat to Tortuga Island.  On our way out we saw dolphins.  We met the island's owner and laid back in the hammocks for most of the day.

We ended our trip with a journey out to the coffee plantations and learned just how much effort goes into each cup of coffee we drink everyday.  We drove to Poas volcano and actually had the chance to look into the crater and we also enjoyed several small towns on our way up and back.  We even met a local farmer who got a little too touchy feely with Kenrda.  At least I got to get in his painted cart.
